Name: Mazoyeres-Chambertin Grand Cru
Variety: Pinot Noir
Region: Burgundy
Country: France
Year: 2002
Price: $229

Winery Review: The biggest, most powerful, most complex and most complete of these 2002s. It's not as elegant as the Charmes but this easily has the best precision and the most individuality as well. A very nice effort that is built to age. Deep ruby. Fresh and very ripe pinot fruit nuanced with plenty of earth and underbrush that lead to supple flavors but a very tannic and rustic finish. The concern here is the same as with the Charmes because it's not clear that this will harmonize. If it does, my score will seem very conservative as this is otherwise a pretty effort. 89/100 Allen Meadows.

My review: It was in a screw cap bottle. As soon as I poured it in a glass cup, it was a dark ruby red color wine. The texture of the wine was smooth and clean. It also contained tiny pieces of minerals as well. The taste, was more earthy and oaky. It was rich in flavor and more natural.
