Variety: Red Blend (Portuguese Red)
Region: Lisboa
Year: 2012
Country: Portugal
Price: $7.99

Winery Review: Rich, spicy and deliciously fruity, it has tannins well cushioned by the ample blackberry flavors. Acidity preserves the wine’s easy freshness, while it also has a dense texture. Drink now, but the wine will be richer in late 2014.

My review:  This is my first Portuguese Wine. This wine is enclosed in a dark glass bottle, with a screw top. The image of the bulldog gives you a little idea from where this company got its name and that it mean something important to the family have this dog as their image and it does. According to the label, it is Wine Enthusiast Magazine 90 best buy. This is a red table wine, produced in Portugal. This wine when poured in wine glass or in my case a sampling cup, has a dark purple color to it. I have seen different shades of red before but not a dark purple. I was told this was a tinta Caladoc wine. The aroma of this wine is grapey. But the taste is deceiving. This is not your typical, sweet, soft or dark, bitter or dry wine. This wine was like made just for my taste buds. This wine is a nice and mellow wine to drink at room temperature or cold. But it has a nice spicy kick at the end when you catch your breath. This is a mild red wine, but with a spicy aftertaste that I like.
